IN ONE LINE
aud-io is a local-first music player for the music you own, built natively for
iPhone, iPad and Mac, with Apple Watch and CarPlay.

IN ONE PARAGRAPH
aud-io is designed for listeners who maintain their own music libraries and
want fast importing, private on-device organisation and a focused listening
experience. Local music stays separate from Apple Music, so listeners always
know what they own and what they stream. There is no aud-io account, no
aud-io-hosted music server, no advertising and no cross-app tracking.

AVAILABILITY
On the App Store since 30 July 2026. Announced 12 August 2026.
Universal iPhone and iPad app on the App Store, iOS 26 or later.
Native Mac app on the Mac App Store, macOS 15 or later.

FREE TIER
Import, organise and play the whole local library at up to 256 kbps, with bass
and treble controls and on-device Made for You mixes.

PRO
Lossless audio with source-rate matching for DAC users, true gapless playback,
crossfade, a full 10-band equalizer and EBU R128 loudness normalisation, plus
the Hub's AI features.

IMPORTING
Files, Finder, AirDrop and Share extensions, Wi-Fi browser transfer, watched
folders and ZIP archives. On Mac, aud-io also imports CDs and connects to a
NAS. Watched folders are reconciled when the app launches or returns to the
foreground.

SOURCE FILES
Source files stay on the device and are not automatically rewritten. Metadata
corrections and artwork overlays live in aud-io's own library. A clearly
labelled, user-initiated Write to File action updates supported tags in the
source file when the listener chooses it.

FORMATS
FLAC, ALAC, M4A, MP3, AAC, WAV, AIFF, Opus, Ogg Vorbis and CAF.

APPLE MUSIC
Available to listeners on both the free and Pro tiers with their own Apple
Music subscription, handled by Apple through MusicKit.

THE HUB
Optional and opt-in. AI Mixes, AI Radio, AI Librarian, Artist Videos, Artist
News and aud-io lytics, enabled with Pro and a free BYO Gemini API key
supplied by the listener. The key is stored in the device Keychain. Audio
files are never uploaded.

COMPANION SURFACES
Apple Watch remote, CarPlay local Library and Playlists, and iPhone and iPad
widgets for Now Playing, Recently Added and Shelf. AirPlay output, and aud-io
for iPhone as a remote for aud-io for Mac anywhere in the house.
